It feels like a late spring here in Connecticut. We’ve had a few beautiful sunny days but it’s been mostly cloudy, rainy, and a bit chilly! I’m thinking ahead to summertime and going to the beach. We are very lucky to live just a few minutes from the beach and my kids (and I!) love going there to play and hang out with friends.
I have gotten a few requests for beach attire so I thought I would share some of my current favorite picks. We don’t currently have any tropical vacations planned here at my house but one can dream, right?!
It’s way too chilly (and silly!) to snap a current pic of me in beach attire lol but this pic is from a recent trip to Florida, my husband snapped this pic of me on our hotel room balcony. This is one of my absolute favorite coverups – striped!!! (see recent post Stripe to it! ), flowy and comfortable, and in my opinion is a little more edgy than a traditional cover up because it looks like I’m wearing a dress!
OK let’s start with some swimsuits! Seersucker is one of my favorite fabrics for swimsuits. I am wearing a very similar one above (it had red piping instead of green!). Grab this now while it’s 64% off!! (maybe I will too!). Tipped seersucker underwire shoulder-tie one-piece swimsuit in Blue Green, J Crew, on sale for $38.99!!
If you’re looking for it without the green tipping here you go!
And most of my swim suits are from J Crew by the way – they are timeless and the quality is really good, they hold up a long time without stretching or getting saggy or pilling. Seersucker underwire one-piece swimsuit in blue, J Crew, regular $110 on sale for $77 with code “LUCKYYOU”
If you want to rock a 2 piece here is one I just adore. Again, stripes!! I own this one already and it’s one of my favorites. What’s also great about it is the top and bottoms and sold separately so you can grab the current size you need for each individual piece. The top sizing is based on your bra size so it will fit really well. Underwire bikini stop in classic stripe in color vivid flame ivory, J Crew, $58
For the coordinating bottoms, J Crew previously offered a bikini and a hipster cut. It looks like the high waist style (as shown above) is the only one currently available. High-waist bikini bottom in classic stripe in color vivid flame ivory, J Crew, regularly $56 on sale for $39.20 with code “LUCKYYOU”
This next swimsuit really caught my eye, it would be especially perfect for Memorial Day weekend or 4th of July beach party! Solid & Striped The Ballerina One-Piece Swimsuit in Blue Motif, Anthropologie, regularly $158 on sale for $126.40
Another suit that caught my eye is this nautical one from Shopbop. Ijust love the two tone color. Tory Burch Lipsi One Piece, Shopbop, regularly $228 on sale for $159.60
I thought I would include a few cover ups as well. While I was looking at the J Crew swimsuits I discovered (and ordered!) this cute beach pant. It even has a coordinating top! (Note: the matching top seems to be out of stock unfortunately but it might come back). I love the stripes and the mixed patterns, and it looks to be both lightweight and comfortable. I will let you know for sure when mine arrives! Beach pant in mixed shirting stripe in color Sky Ivory Stripe Mix, J Crew, regularly $56.50 on sale for 40% off at $28.99!!
Caftans are another pretty option for coverups! This one is from Roberta Freymann’s resort collection, Ro’s Garden. Roberta is the designer behind Roberta Roller Rabbit, which if you haven’t checked out has the cutest and softest pajama sets for kids! I love the unique print and the tassel detailing around the neckline. Alessandra Maxi Caftan in color orange, Anthropologie, $215
Another gorgeous piece from her new collection is this caftan which highlights one of my other current favorite trends – ombre! I’d even wear this as a regular outfit I love it so much! Sandra Ombre Caftan in color pink, Anthropologie, $165
This dress is in a leafy print with an adorable cutout detail. This brand Seafolly makes really beautiful prints! Seafolly Las Palmas Cover Up Dress in color Black, Anthropologie, $162
For beachy vibes Free People is always a great place to look. This cover up has kimono vibes and would look cool with a tank top and jeans as well. The print is just gorgeous! (OK, now I want this too!) Beach Comber Print Cover Up in Sea Combo, Free People, $68
Keep your eyes out for a future post on beach accessories – hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Do you have any tropical vacations coming up? Let me know in the comments!

I love everything- but most of all the colorful caftan! Love pinks & oranges together.
Thank you! I kind of want to do a separate post just on caftans!! xx
