I have gotten a few requests for swimsuits. I had previously shown a few favorites in my blog post Is it beach time, yet?! and then I was kind of avoiding doing them again because to be honest swimsuits are just difficult. I mean it’s hard for me to pick out a swimsuit for myself that I like, nevermind the masses lol 🙂
The best advice I have is to narrow down on a particular cut/style that works best on you. Then order a bunch from a store that offers free shipping and returns. My favorite is JCrew! (And I always order online because I prefer to try on swimsuits in the privacy of my home as opposed to under the funny lighting in changing stalls with someone checking on me every 5 minutes!). Try on a ton and return what you don’t like.
For today I will give you a few styles that I particularly like, and some patterns/prints that I think are very in for right now. Even if you just find a pattern or print you like or a style of suit and then you can try and find similar ones online or in stores. Or as always you can reach out to me and I’d be happy to help you find the perfect suit!
OK, here goes. I hope you enjoy my picks!

Tipped seersucker underwire shoulder-tie one-piece swimsuit
I’ve posted about this suit before because it’s that good. It’s actually my favorite swimsuit!! I bought this one this year and have the same one but with red piping that I’ve been wearing nonstop the past 2 years. JCrew suits are great quality and are made to last! This suit is also great if you have a long torso like me.

Tie-shoulder flutter top in tipped seersucker
Here’s similar in a bikini version. I love the ruffle top it’s especially flattering if you have a small bust.

Seamless high waisted bikini bottom in tipped seersucker
Here’s the matching bottom. To be honest I was afraid to wear high waist bottoms for a long time but I finally tried one this year and I actually thought it was pretty flattering because it holds down your tummy area!

Eco one-shoulder cutout one-piece swimsuit in color block
JCrew has a new line of eco friendly swimwear! It’s made of a special fabric that incorporates 100% recycled polyester! I have ordered this suit and will report back after I try but I love the cutout detail – it’s fun but I feel most of the problem areas are still covered! It comes in 3 different color combinations but this one is my favorite. This is also one of Lemonstripe’s picks!

Cross-back bandeau one-piece in classic stripe
Another JCrew pick. I love the cross back on this one and the classic striped pattern. This looks very classy!

Topshop Ribbed One-Shoulder One-Piece Swimsuit
At $50 this is a great price! I love the sexiness of the one shoulder but it also comes with an optional second strap that you can add when swimming for a more secure fit.

Seafolly in the Loop Bandeau One-Piece Swimsuit
This is fun with the color blocking. The back of the suit is a laddered cutout. It’s a great way to add interesting details with still being modest.

Helen Jon x Draper James Ruffle One Piece
This is so pretty! I love anything with ruffles! It’s a bit flirty while still offering a ton of support.

Vineyard Vines Favorite Stripe Rash Guard
Another option I love is to use a rash guard as your top! Especially for days when you are literally going to be out in the sun all day or if you are fair skinned and burn easily. This can be paired with a coordinating bottom – I don’t think the bottom has to match exactly, in fact it’s more fun when you mix up the look.

Here’s an example of a bottom I would “match” with the rash guard. This coordinates more than matches and makes the whole swimsuit much more interesting in my opinion! It’s a cool way to be a bit edgy while being modest too 🙂

It wouldn’t be a blog post from me without some Anthropologie picks! Here’s my first Anthro pick. Color blocking and the cutout makes it fun yet it’s still pretty neutral too. It also got great reviews!

Amaio Ophelia One-Piece Swimsuit
Another Anthro pick! I can’t justify the price on this one it’s way out of my league, BUT it will probably go on sale at some point and I also just wanted to show the style – it’s just so unique and has very Americana vibes. I adore it! Let’s all cross our fingers that it goes on major sale! I will also try to find a similar one for less if people really like this one.

SAME Los Angeles The Betty One-Piece Swimsuit
This is so feminine with the pastel colors and I adore the bow tie. Very sophisticated! 😉

Mara Hoffman Abigail Bandeau Bikini Top
Mara Hoffman has such beautiful pieces and I love her aesthetic. This is just so pretty.

On sale for $30 this is affordable and cute! The wrap makes it look like a two piece suit but it’s actually a one piece. It has gotten rave reviews for looking great on all body types. It also comes in olive and bright blue!

Womens One-Shoulder Bralette Bikini Top
I recently discovered that Abercrombie has an affordable line of swimsuits that is mix & match and that’s right up my ally! It makes your suit so much more interesting. I am loving this red bralette top ($28!!!) but it comes in a few colors and the swimsuit tops also come in different cuts. Go to their website and use the mix & match feature, it’s so cute!

Womens Seersucker Side-Knot Cheeky Bikini Bottoms
I love it paired with this bottom that is only $10 right now!!!! Amazing!

Onia x WeWoreWhat Capri One Piece
This is another one piece with a bow that I adore. Orange is also the new black!

Mara Hoffman Lydia High Waist Bottoms
Here’s another Mara Hoffman pick and it’s currently on major sale at Shopbop! I just love her prints.

Mara Hoffman Aya One-Piece Swimsuit
My final pick is this Mara Hoffman one piece also currently on sale at Shopbop. The multiple twist details are just beautiful.
I would love to know what you thought about these swimsuits! Did you find anything you liked? If not, please contact me and I can help you! Happy Swimming! xxMelissa
